Portfolio Interview

A part of our Professional Practice module included a professional interview of our portfolio work. I have struggled a lot this past year, with Covid and with other issues, so I was initially quite worried about doing an interview- nerves always seem to get in the way.
Although our interviews were done Microsoft Teams-style, it was still quite nerve wracking knowing I would be speaking to someone who was working in the professional world of design. My interview was done by Richard Pay from the branding company Uniform. Richard is currently the Design Director of Uniform, having worked there for over 5 years as a Creative, he became Senior Creative in 2021.
I've never done an interview over a video call, it was quite a strange situation as I've always had interviews face to face, However the interview went really well and I was pleased with the outcome of it. The constructive comments I received have made me think about my work and how I could change it for the better.
The comments are as follows:
"Good, confident start, nice, relaxed, chatty style to your presentation. Professional description of your work, you talked us through your work with clarity. At times, you spoke in questioning tones, be careful to avoid this style of enunciation in interview situations because it may project a lack of confidence in what you are saying. Bang on nine-minute presentation, well done. Overall, you actually sounded very sure of yourself and your work, you seemed focused and in the right zone."
There are some points for improvement which I will work on, but overall I was really pleased with how my interview went.

The piece pictured above was piece that Richard particularly liked because of the line work. He commented that using all black lines doesn't make my work look as good as it could potentially be- this is something I plan to work on in the future.
